Glacier hike & Ice climbing
Sólheimjökull glacier, a frozen world of ice formations, sinkholes, deep blue crevasses and jagged ridges, is an outlet glacier of Iceland’s 4th largest glacier Mýrdalsjökull. The glacier is an ever changing hub of ancient frozen water, a rugged and raw glacier tongue. Near the edge of the glacier we start the glacier adventure with an introduction to the equipment. When the gear has been fitted we head for the glacier to explore the crevasse riddled glacier. With stunning ice formations, jagged ridges and sinkholes, Sólheimajökull glacier is an unforgettable site to spend a day. During the glacier hike you will get the chance to test your ice climbing skills.
We will provide you with all the tools you will need for your time on the glacier: ice axes, crampons, harness, helmets and safety lines. No ice climbing experience is required.
On the day tour we stop at Skógafoss waterfall before we drive back to Reykjavik
