On this 5-7 km long small group horseback riding experience we ride through Rauðhólar “Red Hills”, in Elliðaárhraun lava fields in the outskirt of Reykjavik. Rauðhólar is a beautiful area with a cluster of, around 5000 year old, rootless cones (pseudocraters). Craters like these have also been discovered in the Athabasca Valles region on Mars.
For more experienced riders we might change of course and ride along and by Lake Rauðavatn. The name Rauðvatn, “Red Lake”, comes from a large number red alternateflower watermilfoil that grows from the bottom and spreads widely around the like.
On both routes you’ll enjoy a wonderful ride in beautiful surroundings
